Meeting demands for two-man delivery services

The UK market continues to see a significant rise in the deployment of two-man delivery services to fulfil demand from consumers that expect to not only order and receive their goods promptly, but also in a manner that delivers more than just the products to their front door.

As online buyers choose e-commerce increasingly for the delivery of their homewares, electronics, fitness equipment and luxury goods, the market has also seen a sharp rise in the need to receive goods within 24-48 hours and to receive a white-glove service in respect of the product delivery, including placement, fitment and removal of any legacy unwanted items.

The challenge

E-commerce providers are having to meet the needs of their audience or sometimes risk losing the ability to secure an order in favour of an alternate provider that can deliver faster, quicker or easier. For two-man delivery operators that provide support in these sectors, this brings opportunity but also challenge. Optimal payloads and volumes are required to not enable them to fulfil more deliveries per route, but also remain compliant and legal in terms of weight and working at height.

The market

The market is showing no signs of slowing down and luxury goods are an added sector where the more bespoke elements of a two-man delivery solution are now being relied upon to provide that additional element of service that their consumers expect from the high value products that they procure.

The solution

As demand increases, pressure to deliver and an expectation on quality continues to increase, the logistics winners will be those that can navigate solutions that come away from traditional O-licence based vehicles and smaller panel vans to solutions that drive payload, deliver weight capability and even offer all of the aforementioned, in a net carbon neutral zero position, certainly the next expectation of e-commerce businesses.
